Horseback Riding in Vegas.

While searching for horse riding lessons on Google (now a listed as a verb in Websters Dictionary), I came across a link for RIDING IN VEGAS; COWBOY TRAIL RIDES. I of course click the link thinking, "Hey I can ride in Vegas!" I look through the different rides and I see one that looked particularly interesting "Sunset BBQ Ride". Thinking that my dad would be interested in this i run the idea by him so i can make a reservation. He origionaly says no but then looks back in interest of the BBQ and says go ahead and make the reservations. The riding was $139.00 per person and we were planing to go as a group. I inform my mother of the plans for the riding and she was excited. As our ride approched my father decided he wasn't going to come and my mother confirmed our reservations.

On Tuseday, July 11 we were picked up at Excaliber. Because of traffic on the main road we were brought the scenic route aka the LONG way. It took about an hour to get to the ranch. We were greeted by cowboys 2 young and 2 older. Doug, an exact replica of Jake Gylenhaal in the movie Brokeback Mountain, Tom an older cowboy, Hawk, he had opinions of his own but none the less he was very jolly and funny guy; I would describe him as a cowboy version of Santa Claus, and another who i forgot his name but he was funny. I was told by Hawk that my jeans brought to much attention to my butt. But I wasn't the worst of the group. One girl had on abercrombie jeans with huge gashes in the knees. Hawk saying that she hadn't worn her "good jeans" though her mother and herself insisted that those were her "good jeans". How ever that still was not the wors of the group. A man, I'd say about 25-30 years old, was wearing SHORTS!!. You'd be sure Hawk had something to say about that too. But again not the worst of the group. Now the absolute worst of the group my mom had thought wasn't going to be riding with us and was just in for the BBQ. She was older wearing white capris, black longsleeve casmere type type sweater, and pearls. Now usaly my mom and I would judge somebody on their clothes but what really stood out were her shoes, or should I say lack of. She was wearing nice SANDLES!!!!!!!! Well she was able to ride but thats not important.

The weather was beautiful up there. It was a pleasent warm with a cool breeze. We were in higher altitude and in a valley. I so badley wanted to ride a painted horse, plainly because I am predjuduce for the painted horses and like them better. I however got Little Joe. I told my mom I wanted to switch with her because she got Sheyanne. She said i shouldn't judge the horse by the name. But I knew I wanted that horse. Little Joe was a small horse that had a bald face and was baige. My mom got a tall painted horse. : ( After quick instructions for riding, we finaly got up on our western saddled horses and each eager to get a move on the ride. All the horses were moving infront of each other and pushing and shoving, I was sure something bad was gonna happen, purely out of experience. Sure enough one of the horses gave a little buck but nothing that serious. We set out along the valley going up and down into and out of crevases. I was separated from my mom and i was lonely with no one to talk to, not important. Anyway, the sunset was beautiful and was definatly worth it.
